| I have traveled many times before,
but this time, I joined Contiki, a tour for 18 to 35 year olds. I
wanted to leave the thinking and planning to a tour manager, and I
wanted the company of people around my age. I expected to see
Europe's famous places and sights. However, Contiki gave me more
than that. They gave me a group with diverse backgrounds and
interests. I got more out of the tour because the people made the
difference. It's one thing to see cultures and sights, but it's
completely different to live (or suffer - cough, cough) through it with others.
This journal is detailed because I don't want any of the moments, sights, sounds,
conversations, or the people forgotten. I do mention more than I should, but
the idea is to not forget all the little things that make our group
what it was. (Nevertheless, there has been some editing to prevent any misunderstandings.)
Just a couple apologies: Pictures have been slashed by at
least 60% (in size and resolution). Many videos have been taken out.
I purposely used a lot of run-on sentences and fragments. I did all this as a courtesy to those who pay many Euros per minute just
to wait for everything to download. (I know: less reading, more pictures.)
You can jump to the different days by clicking
on the menu bar above, or you can use the 'left arrow' and 'right
arrow' buttons on the bottom to navigate through my journal. The top
bar will take you to the beginning of the day. The arrow will take
you to events throughout the day.
Easter eggs are here; some of these pictures
talk! Point your mouse to some of the faces, and you just might get
a quote! Don't forget that most things underlined in the journal are
linked to something else. Find them all!
I hope you will have as much fun reading about
the tour as
I have had living through it.
