Wakie wakie, cheeky monkeys!

Day 16: Lyon To Paris

Saturday, June 8, 2002

Little two star hotel impressed us with a really good breakfast of assorted fresh (not canned) fruits, meats, and rolls.

Toni, do you know who called us in the middle of the night last night? Oh, I'm gonna get this.

What's going on back there? Zzzz, zzzz, zzzz. Because part of the group opted to take high speed train to France, there was a lot of sleeping room on the bus.

I scored the entire back row, and I was among the last third to enter the bus. Dale came to the back a short while later. I still had half a full row, which was more than the two seaters.

Had trouble maneuvering through the aisles, though. After rest stop, Dale and I lost our back row: "What are you doing in me grave?"

Stopped at the Chateau De Fontainbleau, a French king's "tiny summer house."

Very funny. It's NOT elevator music. You guys acted like he really threw it out. Aaron's elevator (department store) music found its way to the middle of the road.

At Hotel Ibis, found pool and gym for 8 Euros, and Internet for more.

Dale, Jen, and I stopped for "Chinese food" before finding a much cheaper Internet place.

Before dinner, I played a few songs on piano: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (um, my playing is not as bad as this midi file). At dinner, Val lost her voice, and Mike said that he’d hit her every time she talked. So, I spoke for her. Got punched a few times by Val...
Whatever Kyle had for dinner, we want. He went into "episode 1 (2 and 3)" on his tour about Paris. Talked about the guide with the teeth. Mentioned Napolean's "3 inch willie" and something about a "cheeky monkey." Admired old lady's jumpers. Joked, "what kind of Frenchman jumps into the River Seine?" Answered "in Seine (insane)." Had us look for teddy bear in Napolean's room.
Passed by the Academy where the French keep English words (i.e. Internet) out of the French dictionary.

Kyle helped us bypass Eiffel Tower lines (thanks, mate).

Dear, follow these guys. They know where they're going. No they don't. They were calling us 'Antiqui' too. With little time left to get back to the bus, we ran down the stairs and got stranded at a platform.
Found an elevator where the operator joked about not being able to take us down. (Funny man doesn't want to live very long.)

I can't believe we made it. I hope Kyle's not going to leave us behind.

Kyle acted very scared and sat down as we approached a famous place. Click here to see a video on why he was so concerned. Drove through Champs De Elysees to see 'rubies and diamonds.'
Sing for me, my angel of music... Saw the opera house where Kyle concluded his tour with "Phantom of the Opera."
