Day 10: Venice To Rome

Sunday, June 2, 2002

Breakfast of bread and watered-down sugar free Kool Aid. Played Chinese Poker with Mike, Stan, and Spiros at 0.10 Euro a card. 10 cards remaining = double loss. 13 cards remaining = triple loss.
Spiros went downstairs, despite the "don't use the restroom because we can't unload it in Italy" rule. The light came on. Good news: he took his water bottle with him. Bad news: he came back with it empty... or maybe that's good news.

We also talked about and discussed pickup lines such as, "I'm afraid of the dark. Can I sleep at your place?"

Uh oh.

Bus got warm. People in back passed message to put on cool air, but message died off in middle of bus. Outside gated hotel were swimming pool tubs. No pool at hotel, though. Room key included stereo microphone connector to turn on electricity.
Dropped off at Cornelia station where we saw Metro with graffiti.
Arrived at Spagna and saw Spanish Steps. Was fountain in front where you would get long life (or diarrhea) if you drink from it.

Saw Trevi Fountain (Vegas is better) where wishes came true with coin toss over your back. Third toss meant coming back in the future.
Saw Panthenon, Kyle's favorite structure. Been around since 27 B.C.

Are you taking my picture? You didn't pay. Hey, check this out! Arrived at Piazza Novona, our meeting point after dinner on our own. Saw people pose at statues.

We dined separately from the group. Kyle recommended that we not "bomb" the restaurants with our big group.

On our trip back to the hotel, Kyle warned us to get enough sleep because of the "long day" tomorrow.
