Day 5: Amsterdam To Rhine Valley

Went down street to a creepy, cool, and damp cellar that smelled like Knott’s Berry Farm’s mine ride. Had a Scooby Doo feel. Our enthusiastic host showed us slides of grapes and vineyards. She repeated some slides because neither she nor her assistant could figure out how the thing worked. (Can you say “PowerPoint”?)

Is Derek trying to take my picture? I'm not ready.
Is this guy taking our picture? Oh no, you're not taking a picture. What the...? To wine taste:
  • Don't spit. Swallow everything.
  • Swirl wine in cup so it can breathe.
  • Smell the wine.
  • Sip it in and close your mouth.
  • Bounce head side to side.
  • Hum "hmm hmm hmm" before swallowing.
Tried 3 kinds of wine before the elegant ice wine. Learned that cheese and bread was for clearing wine taste out.

As in most of our tours, got the opportunity to buy some to take home at “their special low price.”

Just outside was a yard with a fake witch with green decoration. (Must be the green light district.)

This tastes good. Hmm hmm hmm...
